Re: Resort dressPosted by MAB on March 17, 2002 at 13:23:37: In Reply to: Resort dress posted by Cindy on March 16, 2002 at 17:40:20: We stayed at El Cozumeleno last year. Dress is casual -- shorts, t-shirts, etc. okay in the main outdoor restaurant (buffet-style). Dress is a little less casual in their restaurant that you have to make reservations for (sit-down meal). Also, in general, dress in Cozumel is casual. However, the residents of Cozumel are conservative people. Men, don't go shirtless in town. It's tacky and disrespectful. Women, don't wear just your bikini top and short-shorts in town. Wear more conservative-length shorts and a short-sleeved shirt of tank top that is not extremely revealing. Otherwise, you look like you're begging for attention from the local men, and you will get it. Not in a dangerous or aggressive way, but you will get stared at and whistled at.
