EL CID LA CEIBA - anyone been there lately?

Greetings,
We haven't been to Cozumel in 17 years, and are headed back in June. I know La Ceiba has been bought,
has been partially renovated, and is now all or partly a timeshare, and I'd love to hear how it is now? Even if you just had a drink there or cut through to dive the old plane site!
Where are the nicest areas on the east side of the island to visit?
Also on the mainland does anyone know anything about the new Mayan Palace down near Playa Del Carmen?
