Hi Cheryl,
I'm certainly no expert, but I am somewhat familar with the Island.
Depending on your schedule, I would suggest spending your day (I'm assuming the cruiseliner will be docked from early in the morning til later in the evening) at Chankanaab National Park. It's real easy to catch a cab when you disembark, and it takes less than ten minutes to get there (cab fare, about $2.00 each). Take your swimsuits and sunscreen and plan on staying several hours (park entrance fee, about $8.00 each). You can rent snorkeling gear there and there are some neat things to do, like swim with the dolphins (cost about $95.00 each). It is a well-maintained facility and worth the visit.
From the park, you can catch a cab to the downtown Plaza for some shopping and great restaurants (try Prima, it's wonderful). Hope this helps! And remember...
"When in Cozumel, No Hurry, No Worry".
