: is xcaret the only place to swim with the dolphins? beside the dolphins, is xcaret worth a whole day? i may never get back to do it again and want to use my time wisely.

: thanks

My new wife and I just returned from our honeymoon in Cozumel. It was our first time and we learned a few things.
1) The Xcaret IS worth it. It is BEAUTIFUL and full of surprises. If you want to swim with the dolphins while you are there, it costs about $40.00 us dollars as apposed to $95.00 us dollars at the park on Cozumel. And there is sooo much to see there from snorkling to a turtle hatchery to fish petting to the large aquariums, etc. etc. There are also shows and Mayan athletic events in the stadium. But the best part of it all is the shear beauty of the place.

2) Most shops only take cash (us or pesos). You usually come out better by paying us dollars because if you want to pay in pesos the try to give you a poor exchange rate. Try to carry as small size bills as you can for tipping and buying of small items.

3) And the BIGGEST lesson we learned was to take your camera (DON'T FORGET IT cause you sure don't want to have to buy one there). Also if you think you'll be taking underwater photos with a disposable camera, buy however many you think you'll use and take them with you. Buy as much film as you think you'll possibly use and take it with you as well. We forgot all of the above and here's how it went:
Spent $50.00 us dollars on the cheepest point and shoot 35mm we could find.
Spent $22.00 each for the cheepest disposable u/w camera we could find.
Spent an average of $7.00 per roll of 24exp. 35mm film. I saw a 4-pack of Kodak film for $12.00 us dollars in the store here in the US to give you an example.

Hope this info helps and that your first experience is as wonderful as ours was.

Robert
