: Those are the headlines in today's Cancun edition of the Miami Herald. Following are excerpts:

: "12 mln dollars representing a 33% increase in rooms

: 1.- After serveral years of zero hotel infrastructure growth, Cozumel will soon be seeing 12 million dollars in investments destined for the refurbishing of rooms and the construction of an additional 936 rooms.

: 2.- ...Cozumel received 300,000 tourists last year and is expecting 20 percent more in the near future.

: 3.- ...four new hotels are under construction representing a total of 936 rooms. With those additional rooms, Cozumel will go over the 3,000 mark...

: 4.- ...the Iberostar All-Inclusive is being built with 300 rooms in the southern part of the island; 100 of those rooms are expected to be finished by the end of this year and the rest during 2000.

: 5.- The 300 room Regina hotel is also under construction in the south and is expected to be open to the public next year.

: 6.- Another hotel that will open in the year 2000...is a 96-room beachfront establishment being built in downtown Cozumel.

: 7.- The Jack Tar Village All-Inclusive, with 240 rooms,will be located in front of the Santa Rosa reef to the south...construction is yet to begin.

: 8.- Among the hotels carrying out remodelling work are the Cozumel All-Inclusive resort, which is adding another 154 rooms in an adjacent building that includes an indoor pool and a convention center with a capacity for 600 people.

: 9.- The Casa del Mar is refurbishing its 98 rooms with a total makeover including change of flooring, furniture and design.

: 10.- As for the Presidente Inter-continental, a new gym is being installed and a new convention room is being added.

: 11.- Other projects taking place are at the 30-room Playa Azul & Garden House where 16 rooms are being remodelled, 14 are to be demolished and another 27 new rooms and a pool are to be built."

Jim, is any of the construction located around The Reef Resort? I have read of other peoples noisy vacations due to the construction. Thanks for your input in advance!
