I've been to both, about seven years ago. I found
Xel Ha was amazing, plenty of interesting sea life,
although the sting ray freaked me out (it didn't
do anything but it's sheer size freaked me out!
As for the dolphin swim, I paid an exhorbitant
amount of money for a minimal swim similar to what
you see at Marineland, and when it came time for the
promised free swim, they claimed the dolphins were
too tired and we had to leave them be. I've heard
since that the free swim is a hoax and never happens;
the dolhins are always "too tired". I can't substantiate
that, but keep it in mind. I was more interested
in free swim time, so overall it was dissappointing.
They do offer you a video to take home, again at a
wickedly high price. I'd forego the dolphin swim,
and instead go snorkeling in Xel Ha!
