: Depends on what you want to do. The diving / snorkleing is way better in Cozumel, Playa del Carmen has better beaches. Shopping is cheaper in Playa and more interesting people watching there. Also Playa del Carmen is more accessable to side trips ( ruins, beaches, etc. ) Cozumel has mini golf, Playa has eliteist golf

We love Cozumel but have friends going to Playa Del Carmen in January/February. Would like for us to go along. What are some of the side things to do? Can you find great snorkeling or do we need to take a day & go to Cozumel? We feel very comfortable with the restaurants in Cozumel, how are the ones in Playa? Any advice would be appreciated.
