: thanks Donna

Just got back from El Cozumeleno. The views from the upper floors are amazing. There is a hot tub, miniatute golf, ping pong, pool, and a bunch of possible excursions, including parasailing, though all the excursions and parasailing cost extra, of course.

Naturally you'll want to spend the mornings scuba diving, but for just horsing around, younger folks might like to swim out to the big brown "sand bags", and try to see if they can get on top of them and remain there. Very challenging, especially when the waves are rolling in. But beware the rocks below! One 14 year old smashed his nose into the rocks, breaking it, and wound up with doctors orders to stay out of the water the entire trip!

It is only $4 or $5 one way to get to town, and I suspect that your kids (young adults?) would like exploring the town and shops.

Carlos and Charlie's is virtually all there is for night life. There are other spots, but they don't hold a candle to Carlos and Charlie's.

One Warning: The current out towards the outer boundary of the swim area at El Coz is extremely strong. My wife and I almost got carried out to sea. Do Not go anywhere near the outer boundary of the swim area!! Very dangerous!

For scuba, I've tried about 8 different shops, and so far my favorite is Eco Divers. It is just off the main square. Spot the big Mexican Flag on the main drag and go 2 blocks back into town. It is right there. Ask for Jorge to be your divemaster. (I'm pretty sure that is his name.) He is an one who grew up in Mexico City, visited Cozumel and went diving, and was so "blown away" by the underwater world that he stayed there and became a scuba instructor! That's the kind of divemaster I like! He likes diving the more interesting spots, whereas many of the divemasters at other shops (and especially the hotel shops) will simply take you to the nearest reef(Santa Rosa) so that they can get home sooner. Carlos at Eco Divers is also very good. An added plus is that they have some of the best prices too. The owner of the shop, an extremely kind and helpful guy with a long ponytail, arranges the dives, and he has some good suggestions on what to do on the island when you are not diving. Let your kids meet him and talk with him.

Well, I leave the rest for you to discover. You'll have a wonderful trip, I'm sure.

Lloyd
