: : : The recent boom in construction is due to a ban on new construction being imposed by the Mexican government effective 1-1-2000 for the entire Mayan Riviera area, including Cozumel. Projects need to be started to ensure a place on the island. The government wants to study ecological damage in the area and no ending time has been given, therefore the mad scramble!!!

I stayed at the iberostar feb 2000 it was absolutely fantastic the rooms,service and overall site was A1. the only complaint I had was the beach, it was coral, and to swim in the sea you were in the boating lane, but the pool was adequate for me anyway, my husband took full advantage of the snorkling and boating services the resort had to offer. AH & RH
