Are you staying in an AI? Planning on going into town every day? Taking any Woolite? I also am a notorious overpacker and the things I end up not wearing are:

That extra pair of shorts that are a little too tight
The fancy dress
The fancy shoes that go with the dress
The tank top from Puerto Vallarta
The sweat pants (what was I thinking?)

Even if you do go into town every night, you'll probably be in your swimsuit all day long, and a few hours in a sundress is not reason enough to put it in the dirty clothes suitcase (unless you wear your margarita...).

I'd say 4-5 comfortable lightweight dresses, a pair of servicable shorts and a couple of tops, wear your sweater and long pants on the plane, at least two swimsuits and a couple of pareo's (wear tanks with these for casual dining at the hotel). How's that? Wish I could follow my own advice! Have a wonderful time!
