I just returned from a 4 night stay at El Cozumeleno and I cannot explain how pleased we were. The new rooms are gorgeous (however smaller than the rooms in the original wing) the pool is beautiful (there IS a swim up bar) and the food was great. I was not expecting the level of service we received or for the hotel to be so beautiful. The pictures on the internet are not recent and in no way do it justice. The construction is complete and they were just doing some finishing touches and completing the new pier. I would highly recommend and feel like we got more for our money than we ever thought possible.

: : : Any update on the construction at the El Coz?
: : : Would appreciate any info, we're going for the
: : : third time in Feb-March 2000.
: : : : I though I understood that they were going to add 2 more pools but I could be wrong about that.

: : :
: : : : : So they are adding a new pool also? I just hope it is complete by February!

: : : : :
: : : : : : I bet this is messing with their November open house. They told us in June that it was to be completed by November 16th.

: : : :
: : : : : : : I wonder how far along they will be in February when we go, I hope it isn't too bad:o(
: : : : : : : I really enjoyed the mini golf too.

: : : : : : : : No, construction is not finished. We were there 3 weeks ago. There were 3 bull dozers going from 8am till past dark. They are working on the pool and grounds. We could hear it while at the beach and by the pool.(by the way there is no more mini golf because of the expansion). We couldn't hear the noise in the room however beacause of the air conditioner. There was a jack hammer going in the front of the hotel for 3 days and at the north end of the hotel right at the water they had a jack hammer going. I think they are going to put in a pier there and were working on the foundation. The day we left, they had a bobcat on the north end of the hotel clearing land to prepare for the heavy equipment there. The noise got on my nerves. On the hotel building,it looks like the heavy work is done and now are doing stucco and railing etc. My husband enjoyed watching the workers from our 6th floor balcony facing the ocean, but I could have done without the noise. Even though, we had a good time and the food was good and the staff was friendly. If you want peace and quiet stay somewhere else till they are done.

: : : : : : : : Hope this helps.

: : We are thinking of going to El Coz on March, anyone have any idea of the completion of the construction??? Please e-mail us and let us know. Looking for a quiet intimate vacation to help our marriage.
