I have not snorkeled with someone diving, but I have heard that many dive ops will accomodate snorkelers. Depth is the issue. I've heard that Dimi Dive Shop took a couple out who had the same problem you had.

Also, Chankanaab Parque has snorkel gear and scuba gear for rent. Don't know if they do a "resort dive" or not. Sorry I can't help more.

You can always try the scuba board on the Travelnotes Cozumel board.
