We are staying in PDC soon. Read alot about transportation from the Cancun airport on the Playa Board. Once we arrive, I have made reservations (via the internet) with a company called Alltournative. The price was a little higher than their web site, but they will pick us up at the airport and take us to our hotel. I read about a few others, but were unable to get any prices. Our round trip transfers for both of us will total $100. Total time to Playa should be around 40 minutes. If they don't show up, my back up plan is to take the bus into town and then to Playa. I understand it takes longer (2-3 hours by the time you're done), but it is alot cheaper. I read that renting a car will run about $50 a day and that transportation (bus, taxi, tour shuttles, etc.) are readily available so we decided not go that route. Plus, if you've ever been to Mexico before, you'll remember how they drive (if you go this route, get insurance, no joke). Can't wait to get there, 13 nights and counting....

: Thinking about vacation for a week in Playa del Carmen,and flying into Cancun due to price of airline. Should I rent car to Playa del Carmen, and if so, keep for week or turn-in after arriving at Carmen and rent one for return. If bus better, how do I contact prior to arrival?
